Conservatives in Salford have launched their campaign to save Salford’s under-threat Post Offices following the Government’s announcement yesterday (Tuesday) that the Patricroft, Adelphi and Langworthy branches are earmarked for closure.
Salford Conservatives Deputy Chairman Councillor Iain Lindley joined Eccles Councillor Ann Davies at Patricroft Post Office to launch a petition against the closures, collecting over 100 signatures in the first hour alone.
Councillor Robin Garrido, Opposition Spokesman for Regeneration on Salford City Council, has called for the closure proposals to be debated at the next Council meeting.
Cllr Ann Davies said:
“Patricroft Post Office is highly valued by the local community in Eccles - closing it down would be a real setback for Patricroft and Eccles. It is important that local residents write in to the Post Office with their objections - as an Eccles Councillor I fully support all the residents who want it to stay open.”
Cllr Robin Garrido said:
“Our Post Offices provide vital services to our local communities and these closures will have a catastrophic impact on local residents in the affected areas. It is important that the Council is completely supportive of local residents in Patricroft, Langworthy and Chapel Street who will be severely hit if these closure proposals go ahead.”
