Feeling The Financial Pinch?

Many savers and pensioners are feeling the full force of the current recession. Savers are suffering from the reductions in interest rates, and pensioners have suffered a decade of Gordon Brown’s tax raids.

Conservatives are committed to helping both savers and pensioners through the recession. We will:

  • Abolish income tax on savings for basic rate taxpayers
  • Raise the pensioners’ personal allowance by £2000 to £11490

Cllr Iain Lindley, Prospective Conservative MP for Worsley and Eccles South, is supporting the Conservative petition calling on Gordon Brown to support Conservative policies to help pensioners and savers through the economic crisis. Conservatives Back Residents Over M60 Widening

Cllr Iain Lindley, Prospective Conservative MP for Worsley and Eccles South, has backed local residents who have raised strong concerns and objections to the Labour Government’s proposals to widen the M60 motorway further.

The proposals, announced by Geoff Hoon MP earlier this year, would see an additional lane put in between Junctions 15 and 12 on the M60. This would increase noise and pollution for residents living alongside the motorway and make the existing accident blackspot between Junctions 13 and 12 even worse.

Iain Lindley said:

“Local communities in Roe Green, Worsley village, Winton, Peel Green and Brookhouse suffer from some of the worst air quality and noise pollution in the country due to their proximity to the M60, and little or no regard has been shown from the Government and the Highways Agency towards the ongoing health of local families.

One of the primary reasons that accidents occur between Junctions 12 and 13 is that traffic coming onto the M60 at Worsley has to cross two lanes of moving traffic to get into the lanes heading on to the Trafford Centre. Under the new proposal this would effectively add a third lane to cross. This is madness - a real accident waiting to happen.”
