As part of the Salford Garden Party on Saturday 6th September, senior Councillors from each party will be taking questions in a “big ask” panel debate. Local residents can submit their questions on the Council website now.

Figures Show Our Hospital Isn’t Clean

If you are anything like me, you will have been glued to the start of the Olympic Games.
It was great to hear about our first gold medal in the cycling road race. We also look forward to watching Chris Hoy in the cylcing and Michelle Rogers in the judo, competing along with the Salford-based rower Olivia Whitlam, all of whom we wish the very best of luck as well as Team GB and I look forward to even more medals.
On the same theme, I am sure we would like to congratulate the City of Salford Swimming Club and in particular Amanda Nugent and Heather Frederiksen who became national champions at the National Youth Championships recently. Heather will be competing in the Paralympics in Beijing. The club also picked up 12 medals. This city has some excellent athletes who prove how sport can have a positive influence on your life. How nice it would be to see a good news story about our home-grown athletes on the front pages as well as the sports pages?
