Poster Launch With Shadow Chancellor

Iain Lindley, Salford City Councillor for Walkden South and Deputy Chairman of Salford Conservatives, yesterday met with fellow activists in central Manchester to help Shadow Chancellor George Osborne launch the new Conservative Party advertising campaign.

The adverts lay out the changes a Conservative Government would make to Britain, and launch a new way to join the Party - as a Friend of the Conservatives.

East Salford Highways Consultation

A message from Shneur Odze, Conservative Action Team leader for Kersal and Broughton Park:

“Thank you to all those who attended the consultation yesterday to decide how to spend the one-off £100,000 on our highways. I am pleased to say that the projects on New Hall Road and Leigh Street came a comfortable first.

Sadly, there is great merit in all the other projects - and these still need to be done. Whilst this is one-off extra money, what is really needed is more highways spending, better spent.

It goes to show that sharp elbows do work, and I am very proud and pleased to be playing my part on behalf of the Conservatives in reminding Labour that the people of Kersal also have needs. I look forward to continuing the fight onwards for a better Kersal and Broughton Park.

A special thank you for all those that reminded people to go and vote including MH and its directors.”

You Can Get It If You Really Want

The changes you can get with a new Conservative Government:

A home of your own: abolishing stamp duty for 9 out of 10 first-time buyers

A good school for your children: teaching by ability for every child and tough discipline in every classroom

Your money in safe hands: an end to economic incompetence and no more reckless borrowing

An NHS you can count on: stopping the closure of A&E and Maternity Units

The retirement you’ve worked for: raising the basic state pension and protecting people’s savings

A neighbourhood you feel safe in: cutting paperwork and getting more police on the streets fighting crime

Can work, will work: helping people into jobs and cutting benefits for those who refuse to work

Pass something on to your children: abolishing inheritance tax for homes under £1 million

More help to go green: get paid for producing your own energy

Reduce the pressure: proper controls on immigration so our public services can cope

Marching For St George’s

Conservative Councillors in Salford were proud to attend and support the march organised by the pupils at St George’s RC High School in Walkden.

The Conservative position on the proposed closure of St George’s has been clear from the beginning of the process - the Council should not be closing good schools, and St George’s is an excellent school. Your Conservative Councillors will continue to listen to and support the views of parents, pupils and the local community in Walkden and Little Hulton.

Promoting Salford At North-West Conference

Salford Conservatives were out in force promoting the City at the North-West Conservative Conference this weekend.

The Conference, held at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton for a second year in succession, was attending by senior party figures including Party Leader David Cameron, Shadow Foreign Secretary William Hague and Shadow Chancellor George Osborne.

Cllr Karen Garrido (pictured left) leader of the opposition on Salford City Council, spoke from the platform about the hard work Salford’s Conservative Councillors and activists are doing on behalf of local communities in Salford, and discussed the awful grant settlement given by Communities Secretary Hazel Blears to local residents in Salford with Eric Pickles the Shadow Communities Secretary.

Other Conservatives attending the Conference included Cllr Iain Lindley (Walkden South Ward), Cllr Robin Garrido (Boothstown & Ellenbrook Ward), Judith Tope (Action Team Leader for Eccles, Monton and Ellesmere Park) and Yan-Nin Cockayne, the Conservative Action Team leader for Ordsall, the City Centre and Salford Quays.

Salford Conservatives are delighted that senior national figures are listening to local residents and communities in Salford and across Greater Manchester, and the North-West Conference follows the recent visit by Party Leader David Cameron to Salford to give a keynote speech on crime and visit community activists at Salford Lads’ Club in Ordsall.

Ordsall Action Team leader Yan-Nin Cockayne (pictured right) was able to discuss with Shadow Chancellor George Osborne the effect of the abolition of the 10p tax band on hard-working families in Ordsall and across Salford. From April 1st, anyone earning under £18000 will be subject to a severe tax increase by the Labour Government.
